This page contains interactive plots of Congressmembers of the U.S. House and Senate, from the 1st Congress in 1789-1791 to the present 119th Congress. Each pair of members was given a "distance" equal to the number of votes they casted differently during that Congress, and then members were plotted in two dimensions so as to minimize the total squared error between their pairwise plotted distances and pairwise vote distances.
